If you have never practiced magic before, then you need to understand that it is an art and not just something that looks cool in movies. Magic is something that is learned over time but should not be attempted until you fully understand the depths of casting spells, meditation and powers. One of the first things you will learn about when you first begin to study magic is the casting of the magic circle in which to cast a spell, and what it means to your spell.
The magic circle is a circle drawn or created around the work area of a Wiccan who is casting a spell. This circle can be made with chalk, salt of even a marker, whichever works best for the caster. When a circle is cast, a spell of protection is put over it, before it can be used.
The main purpose of the magic circle is to help protect from bad spirits who may try to stop the spell. Magic spells are meant to manipulate the universe and there are many things in existence fighting that manipulation. The magic circle protects you and your spell from being stopped. It also serves to enhance the energies within the circle, allowing very little of it to escape.
A magic circle can be cast anywhere, but should be in as private as an area as possible. It can be cast with marker, salt or chalk and needs a protection spell cast upon it before you should use it. If you can find a location that is somehow reflective, pivotal or sentimental to the spell being cast, this also helps.
When preparing to cast a spell, a magic circle is imperative to ensuring that the spell be properly cast and complete, without any harm done to yourself or anybody you might be casting a spell upon. Of course, always make sure you are mentally and spiritually prepared for any such actions.
